In the scarlet city of Iolenth, in the Moonless Lands, on the planet Ekko, the Bleeding Mother and her Saints watch over us.

We sacrifice in her holy name, and we tithe to her stone-hewn temples. And when we fall in battle, our tattered shades compete for a chance to live again in glorious Sainthood.

You are the mortal champion of one such shade, chosen to represent them in ceremonial combat. If you win, the Bleeding Mother will crown your shade a Saint.

If you die—and you likely will—you’ll become a shade yourself.
